Consider Oxfords for formal meetings, and sneaker-sole derbies or loafers for business casual. Before wearing shoes for long periods, try walking in them to check toe room, instep pressure and heel stability.

Pairing work shoes with insoles? Check the space first

Recheck the forefoot, instep and heel after adding an insole, and confirm whether the original insole is designed to be removable. Do not simply stack two layers or size up without trying the combination.

Three questions before choosing work shoes

Formal tailoring or business casual?

For formal meetings, compare the closed lacing and plain or cap-toe lines of Oxfords. For business casual, compare Derbys or loafers. Sneaker-sole styles are more casual, so check the office dress code.

Mostly sitting, walking or standing?

Walk in the shoes as well as checking the look. Notice forefoot pressure, local instep pressure and heel movement. Open lacing does not automatically mean a wide last, and a sneaker-style sole does not guarantee all-day comfort. Compare against your own foot shape.

Will the same size fit every style?

Different lasts and sock thickness affect fit. Share both foot lengths, your usual dress-shoe size, preferred style and main use, then check the size guide or try on in store. Confirm colour and size availability before visiting.
