Insoles for leather shoes:
space, fitting and thermoforming

Before adding insoles to your work shoes, check how much room is available inside. Not every leather shoe can accommodate an insole: the toe box, upper and heel all affect the fit. A shoe that already fits closely may become too tight with an added insole. Do not force it.

Check three fitting points ↓

Check the forefoot, instep and heel

  • 01 · ForefootCan your toes move? Is there pressure along either side of your forefoot? Check while standing and walking.
  • 02 · InstepDoes the upper or lacing area press against the top of your foot after adding the insole? Do not rely solely on loosening the laces.
  • 03 · HeelDoes the insole raise your heel enough to change how the shoe collar fits, or cause your heel to slip while walking?

Can you remove the original insole?

Remove the original insole only if it is designed to be removable. Do not pull out a glued-in insole. If you are unsure, check the shoe's product information or ask the store.

Do not simply stack a new insole over the original. An extra layer takes up space and changes your foot's position inside the shoe. Check the shoe and insole designs before deciding how to pair them.

Should you buy a larger size?

Do not automatically size up to make room. A larger shoe may not fit correctly in length, width or around the heel. Try the shoe and insole together rather than choosing by size alone.

Ready-made or heat-moulded insoles?

Ready-made insoles have a preset shape; heat-moulded insoles use heating and moulding for fitting adjustments. Both need to be tried in the leather shoes you will actually wear. Heat moulding does not guarantee that an insole will fit inside a shoe or suit you better than a ready-made option.

Wear your usual socks, stand up and walk a few steps, checking for pressure, movement or rubbing. An insole should not be used to force an unsuitable shoe to fit.

Bring three things for your fitting

  1. The leather shoes or other footwear you plan to wear.
  2. The socks you normally wear with those shoes.
  3. Any insoles you currently use, so they can be compared.

Revic heat-moulded custom insoles cost HK$880 including arch assessment. An assessment alone costs HK$350. The service takes approximately 30–45 minutes, with free remoulding for one year after purchasing the insoles.

The service is planned for Kwun Tong only.Stock is expected in early November, but the actual arrival and service start dates remain to be confirmed. Please enquire before visiting; our staff must confirm your appointment date and time.

Fitting advice is not a medical diagnosis

This guide covers shoe pairing and fitting; it does not mean everyone needs custom insoles. Revic's measurements are for insole fitting reference, not medical diagnosis. If pain or numbness persists, do not force yourself to keep wearing the shoes. Seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
